Blockades being tightened by India
Customs point in Raxaul, Indian town bordering Birgunj, has said India has not put restriction on supplies from the country. Assistant collector at Raxaul customs, Kamalesh Kumar said that they have not received any order from higher authority asking them to prevent carriers and tankers heading to Nepal.
According to him, the carriers and tankers were held at the border point because the clearing agents remained absent due to security concerns.Kumar said although security checks at the border had been strengthened given the upcoming Legislative Assembly polls in Bihar, it has no connection with the tankers and carriers being stopped from entering Nepal.
Meanwhile, India’s border security force Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB) has tightened cross border movements have in all other border points except Raxaul.
